Specklepaw smiled and mumbled "Mmk mmm (thank you) !" she mewed, dropping the squirrel and rolling back onto her paws and smiling widely after licking the fur out of her teeth.

Nettlepaw purred suddenly, cutting it short when he realized it. What just happened? Shaking his head briefly, he nudged Specklepaw with his shoulder proudly. "Let's get some more prey." he meowed, a tingling feeling in his stomache when their fur touched.

As he stopped to talk, Mosspaw swung around, propelling herself with her front paws and using her back legs to knock one of his paws over. Or trying too, anyway -- he was too big and she wasn't strong enough.
"Ugh," she said, the word of disgust breaking out of her jaws before she could stop it. She twitched her whiskers, annoyance glittering in her eyes. "You're too big," Mosspaw complained. And normally when attacking big cats, what would she have the advantage of? Oh yeah, not running at them like a complete idiot. That was a good advantage to have. Unfortunately, in training sessions, one rarely had that advantage.

Shadowclaw growled in frustration as Mosspaw feebly batted at his front legs like a kit. "Mosspaw, you need to think! When you're fighting a larger enemy, you have to think differently than when fighting some one your own size." he explained. "Strategize in your head, predict where I'll be and when. Let's start again." he declared, making his way towards his end of the hollow once more.

Specklepaw buried her squirrel to get later and meowed excitedly "OK!" As she followed Nettlepaw deeper into the woods to hunt some more. Her belly just wouldn't stop fluttering. Hopefully Fleckedpaw would find out what was wrong with her.

Mosspaw huffed. She did not like attacking, nope. She knew he was going to sidestep either left or right or something, but honestly, when did that come useful in a real battle? In a real battle, things like this rarely happened -- and there was never so much distance between two cats!
Shadowclaw was starting to annoy her now. While he did have a fair point, he also wasn't thinking of this as a real battle. How was that training? It was more like running around trying to accomplish teaching her something, but then never getting that something done because you weren't doing it right.
And she could already beat most of the other apprentices!
It was just him!
Lashing her tail, she studied his position. He was standing how he had last time, but Mosspaw knew he was prepared for whatever she did. She recognized the oncoming, endless game in which he would always best her. Because either way, in this situation, he had the upper paw. He was able to defend himself whereas she was just the stupid one no matter what she did...
Mosspaw hissed. This time she padded closer to him, tensing her muscles as she walked and when she was closer to him, ducked to one side and hesitated a brief moment for making a leap towards his back.

Hopefully Fleckedpaw would find out what was wrong with her. Nettlepaw smiled and followed Specklepaw, walking by her side. While his senses were alert, he didn't realize that his pelt was brushing hers. For a moment, he thought about stepping away from her, but for some reason he stayed by her side. His heart was warm as Nettlepaw walked beside Specklepaw, and he slowed his pace slightly. Shadowclaw snorted as Mosspaw charged at him again and side-stepped to his right, but instead he practically threw himself into her claws. He felt her claws on his back and growled in fury.

Surprised when her paws touched his back that he hadn't stopped her in some way or form, Mosspaw pulled her entire weight onto his back. Surprise still rippled through the apprentice, but she wasn't the cocky type that thought just because she had one success, she was unbeatable. She knew that he was much too big for her to crush using mere weight, so instead she placed her paws on his shoulders -- which, of course, in a real battle, would be unsheathed, but this was merely a training session -- and lowered her muzzle close to his neck.
In a real battle, her teeth would have clamped down on his throat tightly and she would have clung to his back despite anything he did with her claws and teeth, but this was training -- in training, it was much easier to knock a cat off you're back because they would not unsheathe their claws.
Mosspaw didn't mind, though.
In a real battle, she would have just won, and even if that wasn't good enough for him, it was good enough for her.

Specklepaw for some reason found it hard to look Nettlepaw in the eye. She felt much to shy and small, not to mention the butterfly feeling was making it extremely hard to think straight, so how would she be able to speak properly enough to talk to him?

In a real battle, she would have just won, and even if that wasn't good enough for him, it was good enough for her. Shadowclaw grunted as Mosspaw balanced herself on his back, and quickly rolled over, Mosspaw going down with him. Now Shadowclaw was on top of her, flipping over as to not crush her. He placed a seathed paw on her throat and said nothing for a moment. "That was better." he grunted, getting off of Mosspaw. "Alright, this time, I'll charge at you." he instructed, trotting over to his end of the hollow yet again. Nettlepaw's face was red and his ears flattened. After what seemed like moons of trying to think of something to say, Nettlepaw looked right at Specklepaw and smiled weakly. "Um.. do you just want to walk around?" he asked shyly. The squirrel they caught was big enough, so they didn't have to catch anyhing else.
